1870’s George Vulliamy Camel Bench

£6,995.00Price

I have two of these highly~prized Camel Benches dating back to the 1870’s, this is your chance to own a piece of History, I believe they’re the only two of these for sale. Originally installed on the Victoria Embankment London near the Houses of Parliament, these were situated in the 1870’s to mark the opening of Cleopatras Needle which spent 4 years on a Voyage from Egypt. George Vulliamy, an Architect to the Board of Works, he also designed an Ornamental Dolphin Lamp alongside the Benches featuring Camels and Sphinx shaped armrests.

This extremely heavy 3 section Bench will need to be assembled in situ. Please contact me to discuss Courier/shipping fees. The Cast iron Sections have been hand painted and it is adorned with Treated Teak wood held together with Stainless Steel Black Carriage Bolts. It is 84cm tall, the Seat height is 48cm, it’s 99cm deep, 275cm wide.

The two end sections alone weigh circa 160kgs
